“The Path from Division to Unity”

30x40inch Mixed Media: sand, modeling paste, vibrant acrylic paint, resin, mica, and two miniature swimmer figurines on 1.5in thick professional grade stretched canvas in a solid wood float frame.

This piece embodies the complexity and duality of our current times across so many facets; gender, politics, religion, race, cultures, beliefs, groups, brands. There is an increasing focus on duality; this or that, us vs them that aims to oversimplify, divide, and reduce much more complicated, nuanced matters into soundbites that remove the need for critical thinking, truth, and a realization that we are all more alike than different. That the world has actually become more globally influenced and interdependent than ever.

This is my first piece that uses two tiny swimmers; one male and one female swimming on opposing sides yet the pathway of waters begin to blend as their course begins to gravitate to the center.

Have you ever thought to yourself: ‘Am I on the right path?’ ‘How did I get here?’ ‘I’m ready to start a new journey!’ or ‘‘I know with every fiber of my being that I’m exactly where I’m meant to be.’ Then this series is for you.

“The Path” is a series of large mixed media, bold, textured, abstract-yet-organic paintings made with sand, acrylic, resin, and a miniature swimmer figurine on canvas.

These unique pieces represent the multitude of choices and decisions we make along the journey of life; the people we encounter, the lessons we must learn, our unique personal growth, and learning to surrender to the natural flow of what is meant for us.

From a single point of origin that splits to many paths and possibilities as we flow through the waters of life, where water ultimately meets with the celestial sky.

May we all be more present and connected to ourselves, each other, and and world around us in order to more fully enjoy our unique journeys.
